Millers boss Mick Harford had said earlier in the week that a loan signing was imminent but refused to name the player and Conlon will go straight in to the squad to face Scunthorpe on Saturday.

The Irish born striker scored seven goals in 25 games last season for Barnsley but has failed to play his way in to new boss Andy Ritchie's plans so far this season and will join the Millers hoping to make an impact although he will be unable to play when the two teams meet twice inside a month in the league.

Conlon commanded a six figure fee when York bought him and spent a successful spell at Darlington where he notched 39 goals in 115 starts and the 6ft striker looks set to oust an out of form Martin Butler on Saturday.
