Millers threaten fresh court case

With the Millers failing in thier initial bid to get Millmoor back belonging to Rotherham United, the club are now looking to deal with the Booth's as the current rent of over £16k per month continues to cripple the club.

Millers financial director Giles Brearley is wanting to meet the Booth family in a bid to move forward to both parties benefit, but also warned that if the Booth's failed to talk a new court case could happen.

Speaking to todays Rotherham Advertiser, Brearley said; "It would be better if the Booths called me up and said 'Come and have a coffee and a chat,' but I am not holding my breath,"

"Our long-term plans hinge on getting a more favourable rent by going down the litigation route, which is something that has been forced upon us. Even a reasonable rent would be satisfactory but at the moment everyone is having to work extra hard.

"It would be OK to have them (the Booths) as landlords if it was on a decent rent."

Any new court case would involve the role of Ken Booth snr in the takeover by Millers05 where it certainly looks like the Booth's gained in a big way, Brearley even went as far to say it was 'madness' by Millers05 to even agree to the deal which according to the Advertiser gave the Booth's:-

Free advertising space for the C.F. Booth Ltd sign on the railway end stand
Four tickets for the directors' box at every home game.
Sixteen free tickets in the Millmoor Lane stand and six in the main stand at every home game.
Four tickets to the FA Cup Final—which currently have to be bought by the club.
Former chairman Ken Booth to be honorary president of the club for life.
Use of the club physiotherapist up to three times a week.
2 tickets to every game for former director Carl Lucock.

On top of property including Millmoor, The Rotherham United Suite and the Millers training ground Hooton Lodge.

The perks will last until 2080 and will stay in the Booth family when Ken Snr passes away.

Giles Brearley told the 'Tiser; "There is another door that we could open which involves looking at Ken Booth senior. We would do that reluctantly because we respect Mr Booth's age, but if we went for more legal action it would have to be down that route. It's purely down to the accounting side and his conduct as a director."

"We feel Rotherham United have been wronged and we would want the court to balance the books."

"The disappointment from our point of view is that the real issue was not really looked at. That's what's so frustrating."

"The court case ended up in the legal arguments and all the other arguments that we wanted to be looked at like the family package and the valuation of the ground were not discussed." Brearley added.

And its no suprise that there was no comment from the Booths when contacted by the Advertiser.
