The club have made an effort to persuade the Booth family to reduce the rent on the Millmoor lease, however nothing has come from this as yet (and do we expect it to??)

Speaking to the Advertiser, Brearley said; "I would urge the stadium owners to reconsider the position if they genuinely behind the club and its future. It would be nice if they would get in line with many of the other local businesses that have been so generous and supportive. This is essential for us to go forward."

The Millers have also been hit with a couple of big bills from the lease of the ground. The Booths legal bill came to almost £40,000.

"When the new owners came in everything was rushed together because of the winding-up order and the tight constraints were very tight and left little time for proper negotitaion." Brearley said.

"The new owners had to pick up the landlords legal bill for preparation of the the legal document etc and that was a whopping £38,000, this was a blow because the initial monies injected were needed urgently for repairs to the stadium itself."

"Unfortunately the club was not in any position to argue the toss, but I must say that in all my years of public practise, I have not seen a legal bill this size before!." Giles added.

"To mkae matters worse we are now hit with a £25k stamp duty demand from the Inland Revenue for tax on the lease, Unfortunately it is the tax law of the land and we shall have to try and find it."

"The deal for the use of Millmoor had to be very reluctantly accepted by the board at the time, they had little alternative. The legacy of this is that the cash drain on the club is at a level it struggles to meet every month."
