Millers seek assurance over U2 gig

After the new fixtures were released yesterday, the Millers take on Accrington first up but two weeks later and two days after their trip to Grimsby on August 18th, rockers U2 play DVS in a live gig.

With the club's game with Rochdale due on Saturday 22nd, the Millers are crossing their fingers that the match won't have to be rescheduled.

"Obviously there is concern that there might be some damage to the pitch with concert goers using it although it would be well protected," said Chief Operating Officer Paul Douglas talking to today's Star.

"But we have been given assurances that the pitch will be ready and alright for us on the Saturday. Hopefully, that will be the case. At the moment we play Rochdale on that date but we will continue to monitor matters and liaise with the stadium authorities. We don't want to have to move it.

"We have a midweek game on the Tuesday but it is away at Grimsby. Certainly we could not have staged a home game two nights before U2 were due there purely due to the amount of preparation time they require" added Douglas.
