Millers Saved From Brink By Local Duo

The Millers have been facing extinction since it was announced last month that the club would need to raise £1 Million by 25th March in order to survive, an announcement that has seen fans raise £250,000 for the Save The Millers campaign, but today's takeover has ensured the short term future of the club.

Property Developer Dennis Coleman, who has replaced the out-going Peter Ruchniewicz as Chairman and Restaurant Owner, Dino Maccio are fronting the consortium that was incepted after Coleman ate at Maccio's restaurant a few weeks back. The full details of the takeover are still unknown but the duo's investment is thought to be around the 'hundred's of thousand's mark'. "Our main aim is to ensure that Rotherham United are playing league football at Millmoor next season. I do not want Rotherham to be known as the town that lost its football team." Said Coleman to www.themillers.co.uk.
Better Times Ahead?

The duo have been in negotiations with Millers 05 for several week and are expected to take full control in the next few days after the due dilligence has been completed and Coleman had nothing but praise for the out going board, which includes fan's director, Craig Saundersom. "Discussions have gone well with members of the current board who must be praised for how they have battled in difficult times to keep this club going. Also, in the development of the new stand, which once completed will provide an opportunity for the club to attract new income streams when they are most needed."

With so much still up in the air, the longevity of the club still has to be questioned as Coleman pleaded with fans to continue donating to Save The Millers. "Fundraising for the Save the Millers Campaign has gone really well and has undoubtedly helped us save the club. For the time being it is important the fundraising continues. We want to capture the spirit that has been generated by the fundraising across the Rotherham region." Said Coleman.

The club is expected to hold a press conference in the near future, where details of the takeover will be announced in full.
