The Millers have been without thier own training facilities since the club severed all ties with former chairman Ken Booth in the summer.

Since then the club have been looking to get back in Rotherham in their own training camp.

Despite failing to get back into the borough in the 12 months time scale set by chairman Tony Stewart, the club have released plans for a £2.5 million state of the art facility.

The new acadmy will house all the Millers teams from 1st team to the centre of excellence and includes 4 pitches with a purpose-built building containing a training dome, viewing gallery, physio room, catering facilities and changing rooms.

Tony Stewart tells todays 'Tiser that he hopes the new facility will help bring more youth players towards the club; "These are the first drawings of the new training ground which are going to be put to the borough council's planning department so we can get the go-ahead as soon as possible.

"It meets all the training needs of a modernday football club and would be the envy of most in the lower divisions and some in the Championship. We are all excited by it. This would be a seven-days-a-week, allweather facility that would be a boost not just to the football club but the local community and schools as well.

The plan is to invest in an Academy so that children from across South Yorkshire get the chance to play for Rotherham United." Stewart added.

"Our aim is to get the training ground up and running in 18 months to two years' time," he told the 'Tiser, with construction expected to start around October time.
