Millers move was right for all - Alfie

With 17 goals already for the Millers, Adam Le Fondre's career began a new chapter with a bang, but the 23 year old also reckons the move from Rochdale also helped them financially.

Alf was not the first name on the team sheet at spotland and admitted; "Me and Chris Dagnall were too similar and we didn't really gel when we played together."

"Losing me helped because it helped them bring a target man in in Chris O'Grady. "You need an outlet in this league, someone to hold the ball up and O'Grady gives them that. He's linked well with Dagnall. With the good players they've already got there, it's all coming together for them."

"I must say that Daggers (Dagnall) kept me on my toes, particularly last season when I was in and out of the side, although I had a good runs when I scored ten goals in 13 or 14 matches and kept him out of the team. I wanted to play every week and that's why I needed to move." Le Fondre added.

Alfie gave former boss Keith Hill praise as well; "He's one of the best managers I've played under. He gives players a lot of freedom and he wants to get the ball down and play. He's not one to defend."

lefondrebig2"Rochdale play good football and they've got some quality players there for this league. I know a lot of them and I've a lot of friends there, including Adam Rundle, whose just had a loan spell with us. I'm sure he'll be in the squad."

"The problem is that Rochdale are only a smallish club and their low attendances mean they need more money, Like a lot of clubs at our level, money is tight and that's why they needed to sell me and Rickie Lambert a few years ago to balance the books."

Le Fondre has been overtaken by Lee Hughes in the race to be the divisions top scorer and he's now itching to get playing again; "I'm not one for not playing. I want to play games and I want to get back at the top of the scoring charts and get back scoring regularly,"

"I've had a couple of braces but I'm still waiting for my hat-trick. I want to get to 20 and then take it from there."

No time like Saturday lad!!!
