Millers Latest - Fundraising and Huddersfield Walk

Last updated : 08 March 2006 By Deano
In a brief but informative meeting, plans were laid out for the walk to West Yorkshire, with the distribution of the route to all present.

Plans for support drivers were also discussed with names of those volunteering being taken, a list of first aiders was compiled and other discussions on the walk such as making a banner and stop off points were on the agenda.

The 26 mile walk has two scheduled stops, one after 10 miles and then a further stop at a pub after 19 miles. The last mile is all uphill so people were made aware of the challenge ahead of them. After the great efforts of all the Maltby walkers, the Huddersfield march is hoped to raise around £20,000 for Rotherham United. Several walkers have already hit well over £500 with their sponsorship thus far with just over a week to go until the 3am set off from Millmoor.

The meeting was followed by our third race evening at the Prince of Wales Hotel, with another £200 plus going into the kitty. John Mullin and Paul Shaw were in attendance at The Manor Barn in Kimberworth, where it seems that a fun evening was had by all, our very own mighty_milleress informs us that over £1500 was raised, so a big well done to all there last night. On behalf of everyone there Millersmad gives a big thanks to ex-players such as Mark Todd and Trevor Swift for turning out, your support is appreciated.

The Prince's next race evening is scheduled in for next Wednesday, first traps at 8pm as usual. Just to finish with a reminder of the Magna Forum tonight which gets underway at 7.30pm.
