Millers interest made my mind up - Sharps

The 31 year-old signed a two year deal to return to the club yesterday, following two seasons away after rejecting a new deal in Shropshire, and he spoke to the clubs website to explain the decision.

"I'd had quite a few offers from clubs in League One and Two but once I spoke to Rotherham my mind was made up. It was the enthusiasm of the club and the new stadium is a big selling point aswell as the gaffers aspirations for the season - it sold it to me", said Sharpsy.

"One of the major things I had to think about was that I had a chance of playing in League One which is always what you want to do, but I don't see this club as a League Two club. There are aspirations to get into the Championship."

Ian went on to explain why he left after the play-off final heartache against Dagenham at Wembley.

"I just needed a change. The way the club was going at the time and playing at Don Valley, the gaffer of Shrewsbury sold that club to me, but Rotherham United have always had great fans with a great backing when I was at Millmoor and hopefully they can repeat that atmosphere again.

"it's a good base for a good promotion push. It will be a hard division because there's a lot of good teams in it but it will be up to us to perform every week."
