Millers go down to Forest

Last updated : 23 July 2009 By Deano
Despite going down 1-0 on the back of the weekend loss to Walsall, the Millers fans present will have been heartened by a display which saw them hit the post, the bar, miss a penalty, be denied by excellent goalkeeping and two remarkable goalline clearances.

The only goal of the game came on 7 minutes, as Rob Earnshaw finished off a clever move with a right foot shot inside the far post of Andy Warrington.

Winger Andy LIddell turned out for the final 20 minutes on trial in a Millers line up that saw considerable change once again, after a first half where Tom Pope and Nicky Law both had good chances.

The Millers spurned the chance to level matters after the re-start after Paul Warne's cross was handled and sub Steve Brogan clipped the bar with the resulting penalty.

However boss Mark Robins was pleased with another run out ahead of Saturdays game with Doncaster.

"We played some really good stuff, particularly second half and they all put a shift in. "It was a real good workout", he told the Star.

Wantaway striker Reuben Reid, on the transfer list and linked with recent moves to the top two tiers of the football pyramid, didn't feature in the squad.
