Millers get their bear back!

After an impostor stole the show in the opening two games at the New York Stadium, Chief operating officer Paul Douglas spoke to the Advertiser today and said the club were unaware that Broughton was trying to get in touch with them during pre-season.

Douglas said: “We weren’t aware that he’d been trying to get in touch. We wondered where he had got to. Of course we want Peter back. He’s a legend. That word is used far too often, but Peter has certainly been that with the energy and enthusiasm with which he conducts himself on matchdays. He’s more indispensable than me.”

A delighted Peter said: “I’d left messages with the club a couple of times through the summer and nobody got back to me. On Friday I left a message asking them to get in touch, but again, nobody did. I was devastated when I missed the first game. I’ve been doing my best to please the fans since 2008 and to not be there for the opening game felt awful. When I heard there was another Miller Bear there, I figured I must have been snubbed.”

Douglas admitted: “Without Peter there we had to find a stand-in at short notice. It was one of our football in the community team and we strapped him into the suit before he could back out. I think he’d like to remain anonymous.”
