Millers draw Wednesday in Carling Cup

Last updated : 13 June 2007 By Millersmad Staff
The draw, made at the Football League headquarters this morning, saw Rotherham picked out to play the Owls in the week beginning 13th August.

The Millers will renew battle with Wednesday for the first time in a competitive match since January 2004 where they lost 2-0 at Millmoor in a season where the Owls were relegated. Rotherham have had better memories of playing the S6 club at Hillsbrough in recent years though with a couple of famous 2-1 wins.

The Millers were an unseeded team in a draw that sees all of the Football League clubs enter at the first stage and they avoided big names such as Wolves, Sheffield United and Leeds but the club will still be delighted with the draw and it will almost certainly be a sell out. It's the second season in a row that they have been an unseeded club and last season were drawn at home to Oldham in a game that saw them progress to the second round.

Millers fans do not have long to wait until the rest of the fixtures are announced with the Football League set to release the 07/08 fixtures at 10:00am tomorrow.
