Coleman, speaking today, confirmed that he'd received a couple of bids for the 24 year-old and also for striker Will Hoskins, both of whom are out of contract at the end of the campaign.

Of the Tykes' £200,000 offer, Coleman explained: "We've got other bids on the table higher than that, so why would we accept that one? We've had three official bids since yesterday morning, and a verbal bid from a fourth one.

"We've got one or two other teams who have made enquiries last week, so things are starting to happen this week, both for Lee and obviously there's a lot of interest in Will Hoskins as well."

Coleman added that two of three bids exceeding half a million pounds had been rejected for the 16 goal hotshot, but a third was still to be considered.

Meanwhile our neighbours from Oakwell have started the transfer window in busy fashion, completing a £100,000 deal for Grant McCann from Cheltenham today, whilst having a £25,000 bid rejected for Bury's Dwayne Mattis and sending Leon Knight packing from his loan spell back to Swansea City.
