Kwesi Appiah's stoppage-time penalty saw League One leaders Rotherham held to a 2-2 draw at AFC Wimbledon.

Second-half goals from Matt Crooks and Freddie Ladapo looked like earning the Millers a fourth straight win.

But Richard Wood was adjudged to have tripped Joe Pigott in the penalty area which gave substitute Appiah the opportunity to earn the relegation-battling Dons a crucial point.

Rotherham had dominated the early stages but were left stunned through the visitors' opener which came out of nothing on the half-hour mark with Max Sanders firing an unstoppable effort past Daniel Iversen from 25 yards.

Crooks spurned a big chance to level before the break as he volleyed over after Adam Thompson had been denied by Joe Day.

The midfielder took his next chance more clinically in the 60th minute as he latched on to a long ball and beat Day.

The hosts' pressure paid off in the 81st minute with substitute Ladapo's predatory shot giving them a 2-1 lead.

But the Dons had the final say as they managed to get the point in the third minute of added on time as Appiah blasted in from the spot.
