Millers 1-2 Leicester City - abandoned due to floodlight failure

Last updated : 21 July 2010 By Deano

A strong visiting team took to the field as Ronnie Moore also named a strong first half line up for the Millers first public pre-season game, fielding most of his new signings.

After a bright start which saw Andy King and Paul Gallagher go close, the visitors took the lead on ten minutes as the unmarked Gallagher fired in Steve Howard's knock down from a Lloyd Dyer centre.

lefondrebigThe Millers almost responded immediately though as Adam Le Fondre closed down a nervous looking Chris Weale in Leicester's goal, but he grabbed the loose ball in the nick of time.

Le Fondre responded though just eight minutes later, getting the better of Weale from the spot after the 'keeper again made a rick by flattening Tom Elliott in the box.

Leicester continued to look more lively with King firing a rasping effort over the crossbar, heading wide and laying the ball off for Gallagher who's 33rd minute shot deflected wide.

The teams went in level at the break as Elliott teed up Le Fondre, but his scuffed effort was this time saved easily by Weale low down.

Both sides made changes after the break as DJ Campbell put the visitors back in front, smashing in a low shot past Andy Warrington.

Danny Harrison had the best chance to level matters six minutes later but his wayward shot went over the top from all of six yards before the lights blew a fuse and play ended early!
