Mayday revamped to help Millers youth setup

The weekly draw which fans can win a main prize of £1000 has long being used for paying players signing on fee's and transfers has been totally revamped and moved away from the club.

The soul benefactor of Millers Mayday now is the clubs Youth setup, which is the future of our club as it brings on the players which will hopefully play for the Millers and also bring in the Millions in transfer fees!

The Millers youth setup is part of the club but is funded externally by grant aid from the FA and Premier League, however Sport England have just pulled out of their funding.

The Millers have 8 age groups in the center of excellence and each one costs at least £1500 per season to kit up etc.

The main Millers youth team who are incidently top of their league after a 100% winning start, are funded by the club who with the help of the LFE (League Football Education) pay the players digs and salarys.

Anyway back to the Mayday draw, the weekly prize stays at £1000 with 5 runners up prizes of £25. But now in the big January draw the prize has gone from £3000 to winning a brand new car.

At present the club are wanting to make more use of the current training ground at Hooton Lodge to include training at evenings for the various youth teams. However with no floodlights at the training ground the club have to train elsewhere.

The club have looked into installing floodlights at Hooton Lodge, however as the land is in green belt area, planning cannot be given, so now are looking at using portable floodlights, the funds from MillersMayday could help in this and other projects in helping the Youth system at Millmoor.

Speaking to MillersMAD, former striker Mark Robins who is Head of Youth at Millmoor said, "Mayday could really help the Millers youth setup, the money is now ringfenced from the club accounts and is for the soul use for helping me and my team bring the footballers of tomorrow though."
