League One Round Up

With defeat for Nottingham Forest at the hands of Oldham, our win over Tranmere scuppered their chances of taking over at the top. Swansea City are up to fourth after a 2-0 success at Brentford, with Leon Knight scoring twice (37, 55) for The Swans at Griffin Park.

Bradford City and Carlisle United played out a 1-1 draw at Valley Parade, with veteran striker Dean Windass giving The Bantams the lead before ex Sunderland and Barnsley man Chris Lumsdon earned a point for The Cumbrians.

Bristol City are up to seventh after defeating Leyton Orient 2-1 at Ashton Gate.

Phil Jevons and Enoch Showunmi gave The Robins victory in the first half, while Matthew Lockwood struck a consolation penalty for The O's.

Bournemouth started the post-Sean O'Driscoll era with a 2-2 draw at South Coast rivals Brighton & Hove Albion. Steven Foley gave The Cherries the lead before the visitors were reduced to ten men, as Marcus Browning was sent off. Brighton turned the game around with goals from Dean Hammond and Alex Revell after half time before Bournemouth earned a point with a strike from Eddie Howe 15 minutes from time.

Crewe ran out winners over Cheltenham 3-1 at Gresty Road thanks to goals from Nicky Maynard (23), Neil Cox (70) and Luke Varney (81). Brian Wilson (39) scored for the league newcomers.

Blackpool and Chesterfield drew 1-1 at Bloomfield Road, with Simon Gillett (33) scoring for The Seasiders before Kevan Hurst (60) replied for The Spireites. whilst a Billy Sharp brace and an Ian Morris goal saw Scunny bring high flying Port Vale down to earth at Glanford Park.

Northampton and Yeovil played out a 1-1 draw at The Sixfields Stadium with Jason Crowe (32) striking for The Cobblers before on loan Marcus Stewart earned Yeovil a point after half time.

Gillingham beat Millwall 2-1 at The Priestfield Stadium which see's the Lions sit five points above the Millers. The home side's goals came from Clint Easton (14) and Matthew Jarvis (64). Poul Hubertz scored a late consolation down in Kent.

Finally, new Doncaster Rovers boss Sean O'Driscoll watched his new charges earn a goalless draw at Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield Town ahead of their spicey trip to Millmoor this weekend.
