League 1 is tougher this year - Evans

He's just seen his team win 6 of their last 8 games, but still find themselves 9 points from the automatic promotion places, although they have cemented a place within the play-off section with plenty of points to spare.

“Last year League One was poor and the managers in League Two and the Championship, and the good ones in League One said so. The general quality of play was poor, the supporters were bored and the game became a bit dull."

“This season you've clubs like Wolves and Bristol City who came down and you've Sheffield United, Coventry and Preston. Leyton Orient are doing well."

"We're trying to push up into that group and the chairman gives me every chance with the stadium and his backing. It's a really tough league and if I'd have been in it with Rotherham United last year we'd have got out of it the top way because the teams who went up last year wouldn't have this time.”

With 14 games left to play, the Millers will no doubt be eyeing a place in the play-offs, but write them out of the automatic race at your peril.
