Knill has offered new terms to Martin Butler, Paul Shaw, Shaun Barker, Paul Hurst, Paul McLaren, Will Hoskins and John Mullin, but with the club being in financial trouble any new contracts will probably be on lesser wages.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield, Knill said, "We'll speak to the players and make them the best deals we possibly can, but we had I think it was 11 out of contract."

"They'll decide whether they accept the offers, or they don't and find somewhere else. We haven't actually talked money, but we'll have them in, probably next week. They've more or less said they'd like to stay if we can sort out the money, so it's down to us to do that." he added.

Meanwhile Knill is hoping for some of the youth to come through, "I'm encouraged by the kids we've got coming through and we reckon about four or five will be ready to make the step up in a year or so.

"We obviously need to sign players before next season, and we've got a couple of irons in the fire already."
