Knill was youth team manager before he made the step up to first team coach after Ronnie's sacking, and has today given some of his team the chance to become professional.

Stephen Brogan, Marc Newsham, Ryan Taylor, Liam King and Sam Duncum have all served spells in the Millers first team this season and have been offered 1 year contracts with the Millers.

Luke Pritchard has been offered a 6 month contract as he battles back from a year long injury.

Knill's players kitty has been slashed again due to the Millers financial difficulties, Ronnie Moore had £3m in 04/05, Mick Harford had £2.1million last season while Knill will have around £1million to spend this coming year.

However that has not stopped him already starting to talk to players, with todays Rotherham Star saying that he had a player at Millmoor for the MK Dons game.

The Star went on to say, " The player's representative said this week his client was very happy with what he saw and was taken in by the fervour and support of the crowd."

However obviously no names of Knill targets have been mentioned, though Knill told the clubs official site that he has not spoke to either Paul Evans or Matt Hamshaw who have both been released from Forest and Stockport respectively and are rumoured to be coming to Millmoor.

"I can honestly say I haven't spoken to anybody about those two. Paul is a great lad but I haven't said anything about him coming here, that's for sure and I haven't spoken to Matt either." Knill said.

"Now it is a difficult time as I try to find some players and juggle with money, I just want to sort things out as soon as possible so that we can start with a decent squad." he added.
