Speaking to the PFA's website givemefootball.com Knilly was asked if he felt bitter in any way about his dismissal given the events of the last year, "I'm disappointed. Some decisions go for you and some go against you. I'm not the first manager to get the sack, and I certainly won't be the last. You have to learn from these situations and get on with it."

"I was manager for a year and probably saw everything a manager could see. It felt like I had been in charge for ten years, not just one. I kept the club up last season. We started the season on minus ten points which made things pretty difficult. Things were going well for a time and then unfortunately we had to sell players to keep the club solvent. Having to sell Hoskins and Williamson to Watford was a big blow to us " he added.

Massive loss,
"I would like to think that I have left something behind. I was youth team coach before becoming manager and produced some good young players and I also kept the club solvent and in existence by selling players, so hopefully those achievements will be recognised."

"I'm a football person. I enjoy football. I think I'm good at it and good at bringing players on. I feel that I have got talent so, yes, I want to get back in soon."

Alan also gave his thoughts for the future for clubs like Rotherham, "I think the template is Scunthorpe or Colchester whose chairmen haven't budged and have been solid. They know what there clubs are about and they know where they want to be and plan for ten years. Phil Parkinson took four or five years to put a team together at Colchester and was backed all the way. That's how Rotherham should look at things."

All at MillersMAD would like to thank Alan for the hard work he put in at Millmoor during his time here, not just as manager. And wish him all the best for the future.
