Knill Delighted With Derby Day Glory

Talking to the official site after this afternoon's welcome three points which earnt the Millers local bragging rights, caretaker boss Alan Knill was more than pleased with the performance and the result.

He said: "It is the best result but I thought we played well for the whole game, it wasn't just 45 minutes. We had to play well and they are a good side and the crowd made it a passionate affair while the players contributed and all in all we are delighted.

The biggest point is that we didn't concede a goal for the first time since the end of September. The players were fantastic and the energy levels that we thought were missing at Bristol were there all of a sudden. So full credit to the lads for that. It was important for us to get out of the traps early and we did just that taking the game to them. But then we kicked off in the second half by giving the ball away to put pressure on us with two or three corners against. But we dealt with it and ended up playing most of the game in their half. I didn't think we would lose although I wasn't sure we'd get the win."

Colin Murdock again looked solid for the Millers at the heart of the back four, Knill continued: "It was a boost to have no goals against and I am delighted for the players as they have taken alot of criticism."

Commenting on the Paul Heffernan 'dive' Big Al added: "When their player was sent off I thought the ref was going to award a penalty, maybe it was our turn to have a bit of luck - I thought it was a foul. You have to work hard to get that bit of luck and we've done that today. We are all delighted with the result."

The crucial victory means the Millers climb one place to fourth from bottom of League One with a tough trip to Tranmere to come on Monday.

Just to finish off, MillersMad would like to wish everyone who reads the board and all postees all the best for 2006, please read this article and then go out and get blind drunk!!
