The tenacious Irish born midfielder was out of the next three games anyway following the straight red card he received when he got involved in an altercation with Mansfield's Gus Uhlenbeek on Saturday but now he faces a race against time to be fit for the busy Christmas schedule.
Missing For Xmas?

The problem was thought to be in the groin area but it has since been confirmed that the injury is in fact bowel related and Keane will go under the knife after doctors told him it is likely to get worse should he carry on playing.

Keane has only missed two games so far this season, the home defeat to Walsall and the LDV Van Cup win against Accrington Stanley but his absence could pave the way for Andy Monkhouse to make the left sided midfielder berth his own after he was dropped for the Mansfield game.
