John Harrison speaks about resignation.

Harrison left the board last week, but has waited until today's advertiser to comment on the reasons why he left. Much speculation was talked on the boards, here what Harrison told Football Heaven.

"I decided to resign because the other directors asked me to, at first in mid-october I did'nt feel there were good reasons put forward to why I should and I refused to do so. But as time went on I was fairly clear that the postition I was in was untenable and it may have caused some frictions had I stayed on the board so I thought it was best for everybody if I backed away."

"It came as a suprise to me because nobody had said anything to me about anything that I was doing that they did'nt like or was doing wrong. At that particular board meeting, the first thing I was met with was Trevor Smallwood saying that the other Directors are not happy with what I was doing and that I should resign. They then came in and gave the same message, but there's nothing really specific that they were saying."

"I feel very dissapointed, the club is going through a very difficult period of time and I would have much apprieciated being there in the front line trying to get the club back up again."

Trevor Smallwood
"From talking to the board at a later date, the board said they did'nt like the things I was doing, by that I take to be when I was trying to get the Tivoli open. We had got in our budgets some money from the conference and banqueting in december from the main stand and that was clearly not going to be there and would have left a big hole in the buisness plan. So I did take some steps to get that open to the supporters on matchday, although it would need some expenditure on it. I think that was one of the things that they did'nt like."

"One of two said that they had not been getting management accounts, but they had and I have copies of what I have presented to them, the financial position was said to be worse than I had described it. I disagree with that completely. The accounts that they had were correct and audited and were based upon the budgets we had already agreed."

"I can't comment on the details of the current position, had I still been a director I would have done. Times are difficult, The season ticket sales are'nt where we expected them to be, the attendances have fallen for obvious reasons over the last couple of months and that will obviously put some pressure on the club."

"I know they have resources available and I'm confident that they will see the season through and carry on."

John was asked if he still believes in the work the current board are doing, he answered with, "Certainly, getting the main stand up is a thing the club cannot do without, There may be some other matters of detail that they have done that I would not have done myself."

Saved Bonuses?
Asked about the rumours over not playing certain players because of bonuses payable John could not give much info, "All I can say is that the statements I've seen from the club that disscussion took place in November and due to my impending resignation I did not attend that meeting."

Asked how grim things were at Millmoor, "Playing wise obviously it's grim, we need to get a couple of wins under our belt someway, wether it be by luck or good performances, this team is good enough to climb back up the table."

Well thats the news thats been so secretive all week, make of it what you will. Theres been no response from the club as yet.. Maybe we'll get one next week.
