I've got confidence in Gareth - Evans

Talking in the 'Tiser the gaffer asked; “If you are Gareth Evans would you rather be with a Championship club that struggles or play in front of big, passionate crowds here every week?"

“He's a talented player and that's why clubs look at him. I don't think we could have bought Gareth Evans after 12 games last year; he was on fire. I turned down the approach because I've a real confidence in Gareth. He's fit but he's not as sharp as we'd like him to be yet, and he is a proper handful when he's at it."

Evans scored twice and had a stormer against his former club in last weekends 4-0 win over Bradford to which Evans said; “I know from experience that if you play against your club where you didn't have it so good, it adds a little bit extra to your game. When he scored his first goal on Saturday the whole bench was delighted for him. He wears his heart on his sleeve and is a deep thinker.”

Gareth himself looked back at the game and said he enjoyed it; “I don't want to say too much but everyone knows it was my old club and I had a bit of a bad time in the second year there, so to score was enjoyable."

“I felt I was singled out when I went to Valley Parade last year. I only lasted about five minutes and ended up being out for three or four months..” he added.
