After impressing on trial where he starred in the Millers final reserve game of the season, the 20 year old's signing was confirmed this week after a couple of weeks of speculation. In fact the Millers nearly lost thier man as Tom explains.

"I was two days away from signing up to play college football in the States when Mark Robins rang. It was too good a chance to turn down and it's a dream for me to get the chance to play in the Football League."

Cahil then went on to give a bit of background about himself, "I was at Blackburn's school of excellence when I was a kid and I've always played football, I played at county level and then English colleges after moving to Sheffield University." he said.

"I turned down the chance of non-league football in my first two years at university and then Matlock asked me to go along and I scored on my debut for them. They offered me a contract and I only came in a third of the way through last season after playing at university. They had a bit of an injury crisis, so I came along, got in the side and sort of stuck around from there."

"I graduate in a couple of weeks time and then I can concentrate on my football and I can't wait. It'll be great going to places like Notts County and Bradford City. It should be good."

Meanwhile Mark Robins is happy to have signed him with the youngsters potential, "He's a good, strong lad and even though he isn't a target man he does have a good eye for goal," he told the 'Tiser.

Tom signed a contract which will keep him at Millmoor until 2009.
