It wasn't good enough - Stewart.

"The board had a meeting this morning, I attended that meeting and it was a case of either carrying on as we are now or deciding to part company with the existing manager and possibly give a new manager time to get to know the new players before the end of the season so that we don't start the new season into what I call R&D (Research & Development)"

"It is on record that I've said Andy Scott has put the work, the effort, he's very articulate and very professional, whats changed? It's an accumilation of events that's led us to where we are now. We had a good start to the season and that started to fade before Christmas and there was great expectations of what I said was regard to the preparation that Andy and his staff to his team, but what wasn't happening was that the ethic was not being put onto the pitch."

"The board and myself are custodians of Rotherham, We're very ambitions, got a nice stadium coming for next season and we want to be quite clear that we're trying to get out of League 2 into League 1 and then onto the Championship. A lot of money has been invested in the club and we just felt that it was a time that a decision had to be made today based on the facts of the lack of performance as we stand in the league today."

"We've 9 games to go and you never say die, I've always got high expectations but its going to be very difficult to get in the play-offs with 9 games to go. I would hope that we would have something that we havent this season and thats more luck and also the performances that we've lacked I would like them to appear. As I say, you never say die but it would be a magical thing for us to get into the play-offs and I do belive that, but the preparation of getting a manager in to take us where we want to be is probably now and not the beginning of next season."

"I think when you say we've had so many managers in so many months, the first manager Mark Robins left on his own accord, we then interviewed in depth for another and opted for Ronnie Moore and again only down to results both managers were good managers but the performance levels wasn't at a level we could accept. Andy Scott had his own way and means of going about things and logically in his preperation, his keep fit and attention to detail it looked like that was going to be the antedote to the success that we wanted, unfortunately we sit today and with nine games to go, its not good enough."

Tony was asked if he looked back at sacking Ronnie Moore with any regrets; "No none whatsoever. I can see that we as a club, and the people of Rotherham want more than a nice comfortable stadium, they want a performance, they want drive, they want commitment. We as a board have shown them we've got the commitment, we've got the drive and we can deliver but we're limited to what we can deliver, but what we have delivered I think is a really futuristic stadium, what we need to compliment that is a manager that shares our ambition and will take us where we want to be. I'm not looking for a magic wand, what I'm looking for is somebody that incrementally can show that they can deliver through the season a belief, not just in the points but a belief that we can get to where we want to get to and once you get that belief and that incremental success that gives the manager the longevity that he's wanting."
