Internet Millers Race Night @ The Queens

Last updated : 15 July 2009 By Bigrich.....
It's that time of year again - the mighty Internet Millers are off to Leeds to compete in Worldnet, the Internet Football Association's version of the World Cup. The competition consists of 64 teams from around the World (including RC Lens from France, and Arsenal Nigeria) competing to win the coveted WorldNet trophy.

The event takes place over two days in Leeds. On Saturday teams compete in groups of four in a mini-league, with the top two teams going through to the Cup competition on the Sunday, and the bottom two to the Plate.
On Sunday, all teams play in knockout games, until only two remain in each competition!

The Internet Millers won the competition in 2005, beating teams like Nottingham Forest and Manchester United on their way to the final against QPR, where a golden goal from Stevelmu guaranteed the silverware after a nerve wrecking match which included an equaliser by QPR in the last minute of normal time, and a penalty save by the Millers keeper in golden goal extra time.

This year, we seem to have been drawn against London - our opponents in the group are Brentford, Crystal Palace and Millwall's A Team (always a tasty fixture).

To raise money for the event, we are hosting a race night at The Queens in Rawmarsh on 17th July from 7.30pm. Feel free to come along and have a flutter, or if you are interested in sponsoring a horse for £2 or a race for £10 please post on the forum.
Wish us luck!
