I'm proud of the players - Warne

Speaking to the assembled press after the game, Warne said; “I think it was a good, competitive game, It was end-to-end, they had chances and we had chances. I’m really pleased with the lads. To beat one of the teams who are up there, especially at home, with the run we’ve been on is good. To keep another clean sheet makes me really proud. That’s three clean sheets on the bounce and we can be critical of that, in that respect we can still tighten up at the back."

“We have three or four lads lying on the floor in the dressing room because of the effort they’ve put in. I can never criticise my team for the effort they’ve put in. The lads have thrown their bodies in front of crosses, Richard O’Donnell was excellent in coming for crosses."

“Generally, I’m really proud of the team, the group and the staff. They’ve all committed their lives to what we’re trying to achieve here.”

“Scunny are a really good team. Their wingers come really narrow and their full-backs get out. It’s difficult at times and the lads worked really hard. They’re an organised, good team in this league. We defended corners and crosses really well. Everybody was doing everything they could to keep a clean sheet. I always feel like we’re going to score at the other, so when we keep a clean sheet we give ourselves a much better chance to win the game."

“Will’s goal was unbelievable. Obviously Kieffer gets praise for all he does and he gets a tap-in. There was more from Bally for Kieffer’s goal, I thought he was outstanding. He hasn’t played for a while so to perform like that makes me proud."

“Will’s goal was an outstanding strike but, in fairness, it was my assistant Richie Barker who highlighted that on the corner. He thought we could isolate Will on the edge of the box and it worked. That’s why we all congratulated Richie when he scored."

“I said to lads before, nobody comes into our house and beats us here, hopefully. The lads enjoy playing at home and we need to take that confidence into Tuesday. It’s nice playing at home and the fans are really behind the team. We’re exciting, especially on the counter-attack, so there’s a real good vibe around the club. Everybody can see the players we have brought in want to play for this team.”
