Since signing for the Millers, Tom Pope has shown some promise in the friendlys, but now the action is for real, he's just wanting to score the goals to send us up.

Speaking to the 'Tiser, Tom said; "I work hard and try and get myself in the box. I don't keep running all over the pitch. I stay down the middle because I want to get on the end of chances."

"They're a good set here and if they give me opportunities then hopefully I can put them away. I want 20 goals and you never know, I might get more, but that all depends on the number of games I play and if we keep everyone fit."

Looking back at last season with Crewe, Pope's fitness let him down after a couple of injuries; "I wasn't really in with Steve Holland, who was the manager at the start. It was a bit hit and miss for me. Then Gudjon Thordasson came in I was playing and scoring. I did my ankle ligaments and had a couple of other niggles and I was in and out of the side. There's no doubt if I had been fit I would have got a lot more goals."

Despite only making a sideways move with Crewe ending the season relegated to League 2, Pope thinks the move to the Millers is a good one; "Here we're pushing for promotion. It's given me a change from fighting off relegation. We're looking at the play-offs at least and if we perform then I'm sure we'll be there or thereabouts. Reuben has moved on and there's a space here for me to replace his goals and do well."
