I'm happy doing nothing - Stockdale

23 year old Stockdale was a busy bloke on Tuesday night with a string of impressive saves which included a penalty save which earned the Millers a point at Exeter City.

However, he told todays Advertiser that he is happier while he's nothing to do; "The saves make me look a better player but it's a pity I had to make them."

"It's hard for a goalkeeper. You go out on loan but you don't want to be too overactive because it means the team isn't doing very well. But as a goalie you've got to do your job when called upon and I did that on Tuesday."

"Last Saturday we were all over Bradford but lost and from my point of view I had little to do. I had a much busier time at Exeter but I'd rather just do nothing and be part of a team that's winning."

Stockdale who kept 21 clean sheets last season spoke about the laon move to the Millers; "Fulham is a great club and the reserves are a great standard but there are no reserve games over the Christmas period and I asked if I could come out on loan on emergency call-back."

"The move to Rotherham suited the gaffer and it suited me considering I'm so close to home in Leeds. I admit that getting the move to Fulham was a surprise and it took a while to settle in but I'm happy with my training, my football and the way my life is going."

"My main game strengths are my kicking and the way I like to command everything. The trick is to work on your best bits to keep them going and work even harder on your weaknesses. That's what makes you a better keeper."

Boss Mark Robins gave David praise; "He's a very, very good goalkeeper. He's only been with us less than a week and he'll get better and better with every game of the month he's with us."
