I'm delighted - Yates

Speaking to Radio Sheffield, Jamie couldnt hide his pleasure at opening his goal tally for the Millers; "It's unbeliveable, the feeling is indescribable, when I scored I just looked at the Tivoli and the crowd were jumping for joy, my dad was in the main stand, a lot of people I know are here watching me and I owe a lot to them and the gaffer and stuff like that. Without them I wouldn't be here talking to you today. I'm delighted to see them both hit the back of the net." he said

"The gaffers got a lot of faith in me, he took me under his wing in the youth team and made me captain in my 2nd apprentice which was last season, he's gave me my first pro contract and to see them 2 goals hit the net today I'm just delighted that I've managed to repaid him in some sort of way."

"I was delighted with the second goal, I managed to keep my eye on it and its hit the back of the net and when that went in I was on cloud nine, absolutely unbelieveable. I hope I experience more feelings like that again because I've grown up here since I was nine and I just can't wait until next Saturday now."

Jamie then gave praise to loanee Ryan Cresswell who came on as sub and provided some good knock-on's; "He's a big lad, he's come on and I've managed to get on to some of his flick-on's, little things like that can change the game. He's come on and changed the game, he's done well as he's a centre half as everyone knows. He's changed the game and fortunately for me got me 2 goals."

Asked what Jamie and Marc Newsham can bring to the team, Jamie answered; "We've come through the youth set-up with the gaffer now and Alan Knill who was here, he sort of got that passing into us, as a kid theres no point in just banging it up and chasing. Sometimes you do have to do that but at some point you do have to pass it."

"Me and Marc have a good releationship off the field and are good friends, today he's delighted for me, as I was when he got his first for the club and that can only bring good things to the club."

"The spirits fantastic in the team, it gives a whole new meaning to training during the week. It means so much as its so different to a defeat, after a defeat you have to pick yourself back up but I'll be buzzing on Monday morning as will the rest of the team as we've got another hard game next week at Dagenham."

"Everyone in this league is tough but with second half performances like that we should do alright in this league, if we continue to do things like that we'll be up there come the end of the season."

Asked how he'll celebrate; "I'll go and see my dad now and talk over it with him, then what happens happens."

Then he mentioned a few of the callers to Football Heaven who have slagged him off on his early appearances; "I hope i get some praise tonight, I've had a few bad ones. Brian!! I'd love to meet him! This was my 9th game today and he come on a few games ago and started slagging me off and I wondered what was going on really, but I hope he comes on and says well done Jamie!"
