I'll show Ronnie I'm worth my place and a new contract - Brogan

The 22 year-old made his first start in midweek since the Carling Cup loss at Peterborough in August and many fans have called for his inclusion of late.

And Brogan told the Tiser today that he's more determined than ever to show everyone he's over his injury troubles.

"It was nice to get back involved on Tuesday but it wasn't the best of nights to come in, against a good team heading towards the Championship", he said.

"That's football, isn't it? Sometimes you are going to come up against good teams but if you give me the opportunity to play then I'm going to snap your hand off. I worked hard and did my best. I didn't have a good game because it's hard to in a match you lose 5-2, but I'll work hard for the manager and give him 100 per cent whether it's going for me or not to show him I'm good enough to be in his team and get my place back.

"The gaffer said after the game that the shirt is there to be played for. I spoke to the manager a few times about not playing at the start of the season but the team was doing really well so it was hard for me to make an impact.

"I picked a few niggly injuries up so I was in and out of fitness but I think people know I've been fit for a good while now. I've played quite a few reserve games and done well and scored but the first team is completely different. It's the buzz you get and it's the adrenaline. You run more and you seem to tire out a lot easier.

"I felt good the other night to say it was my first game back. I was a little tired but I think my fitness is always there—I'm a naturally fit lad so I don't think I really struggle with that but I do think I can get a lot fitter by playing games.

"The more you play, the fitter and stronger you get, as anyone would.

"The manager has told me I am in his plans and people know it's the last year of my contract. I had a difficult couple of years but now I want to play the rest of the season, do well and be successful with Rotherham and that will hopefully earn me another contract under Ronnie Moore."
