Hursty - We Can Stay Up

Last updated : 23 February 2005 By Bigrich.....

The defender who has been with the Millers for over ten years went on the record today in a clubcall exclusive to talk about every aspect of life at Millmoor.

He says that despite the scoreline last night at high flying Sunderland the performance wasn't all that bad. Hurst says Rotherham more than matched their hosts but were undone at set plays:

"It was a bit strange really because we didn't feel that we played that bad. It was two good free kicks from their lad...the third one was a header from a corner so it wasn't problems from open play."

He's also picked out youngster Will Hoskins who has just signed his first professional deal as a potential star for the future after his display on Wearside.

Hurst also says that he believes that Michael Proctor has made a good move by going on loan to Swindon to try and rediscover his scoring touch.

"He's been in and out of the team. At the start of the season we were missing Martin Butler and he was up front with Richie Barker but it didn't seem to work...it just seems he's been lacking a bit of confidence."
