Honest Broughton won't give up on Millers

31 year old Broughton is out of contract with the Millers in the summer and the much travelled striker has already been enquired about, but he's still hoping to do enough to earn a new deal here.

"I have spoken to a couple of clubs about next season. They contacted me to find out about my situation and that's nice to know. I think a lot of that was as a result of them watching me at Lincoln.

"Because my spell there was successful, it alerted a few people to the fact that I hadn't disappeared off the face of the earth and sometimes if you're not playing, that's what people think. In that way, my loan spell served a purpose.

"As for my future here at Rotherham, I've not given up on it, no way. Football is a crazy game and you never know what is around the corner. I feel very much part of it in Yorkshire. I've been up here a couple of years and who knows?"

Broughton scored the Millers 3rd goal against Macclesfield and looked back at that; "It could have gone anywhere, I wouldn't say it's newfound confidence. I just think it's the fact I played games at Lincoln and some tough ones as well, like Rochdale away. I had some good tests there and was put through the mill.

"It was really good because Chris Sutton, like me, was a target man in his playing days. Also, I used to play under his dad Mike, when I was at Norwich, he worked with the youth team there so there was that connection. The loan spell really suited me and Chris played to my strengths.

"All you can do is do your best. I did that at Lincoln and they were very pleased and if I can use the experience to help Ronnie and the lads in the final games then great." he added.

"I've been lucky. I was involved with the MK Dons when they won the Johnstone's Paint Trophy and the league and I've been involved in a couple of JP trips to Wembley but it would be nice, having had the tough battle against minus 17 last year, to get some success.

"I never wanted to disappear. I put a lot of work in at this club last year in difficult circumstances and so to disappear when glory was just about to come round the corner would have been disappointing. I want to be here for it."
