Henson who has served the club for over 30 years from player, youth team manager, coach and manager to company secretary to Chief Exec will be standing down from his role from tomorrow (friday) night.

Speaking to the clubs official website, Phil said "I feel very proud and privileged to have served what is a tremendous club, I've had some fantastic times with the Millers, originally as a player but in later years as manager and chief executive.

Looking back on his time at Millmoor, Henson said "We have had some great times and some tough ones as well but overall I am pleased what I have done for the football club"

"With the new group of investors coming on board I felt it was the best time to move on. I wish the club all the very best for the future and hope that the new group are successful in their plans for the Millers. Hopefully it will see the club return to the sort of stability we have lacked for the last 12 months or so."

Many fans had a beef with Henson, but membes of both the previous and new boards paid tribute to him.

Denis Coleman, the new Millers Chairman said: "Phil is Mr Rotherham United and we are sorry that he has decided to move on. Both on and off the pitch Phil has always been an ambassador for the Millers."

David Veal, the outgoing vice chairman of the club, said: "Phil has been a remarkable servant to this club. On behalf of the outgoing board I would like to thank Phil for all his commitment, time and efforts particularly this season where he has helped guide the club through troubled times."

MillersMad would like to wish Phil all the best for the future..
