Head2Head and early team news- Scunthorpe (h)

Last updated : 16 August 2006 By Millersmad Staff
Scunthorpe have made an indifferent start, with two draws from their three outings so far, the last of which was a 2-2 draw with Crewe at Glanford Park last weekend.

Captain Andy Crosby appears to have made a solid start to his season, and was named in the League One team of the week last time out. Boss Brian Laws has been running the rule over no fewer than five trialists this week, two of which netted in their reserves 4-2 win over Sheffield United on Tuesday evening but may not anticipate many changes to his side, despite stating he's upset on the wasteful attitude of his team thus far. “We had enough chances to have won the game on Saturday and it's disappointing that we didn't," said Laws.

"We caused Crewe all sorts of problems with our movement upfront and played some of the best football we have done this season.” Striker Andy Keogh is on International duty for Republic of Ireland U21's in Greece tonight and will play if he returns unscathed.

Alan Knill faces a selection poser, as striker Will Hoskins, with three goals inside a few days, pushes for a starting birth. Hoskins netted twice for the reserves in a 3-2 win over Grimsby and of course has the only goal of the first team campaign to his credit with the winner at Blackpool.

It may be that Knill starts with Dave Hibbert and Hoskins, with Delroy Facey dropping to the bench. Other than that it may be the same side as the Bloomfield Road win, with Gregor Robertson keeping his place at full back.

Martin Woods completed his first 90 minutes in the reserves, which will help in his push for a first team spot.
