League Two
Rotherham United v Lincoln City
07 August 2010, 3pm, Don Valley
With Rotherham looking to maintain a top three challenge throughout the campaign this time around, visitiors lincoln have nothing to lose coming into Saturday's opener according to manager Chris Sutton and will be aiming for at least a mid-table finish this term.

Sutton has targeted pace to prove a significant asset throughout his side, something the Millers have struggled against particularly at the back in recent times. The Imps have added Gavin McCallum, Albert Jarrett and Mustapha Carayol over the summer along with another decent buy in central midfielder Josh O'Keefe who arrives from Walsall to try and help add a few more goals. Joe Anyon, released by Port Vale, replaces the outgoing Rob Birch in goal who left to join Notts County.

An experienced head in utility man Jamie Clapham bolsters their defence, whilst Rotherham old-boys Drewe Broughton and Delroy Facey are the nucleus of a physical attack, as you might expect from the managers own style of play down the years.

Therefore we expect a tough weekend battle, and the key for Ronnie Moore's new faces points to being patient and taking time to keep the ball on the deck. Mark Bradley, a team mate of O'Keefe's at the Bescot Stadium has been brought in to do just that.

The Millers problems lay in defence though and it looks likely that latest recruit Exodus Geohaghon will start at the back to partner new skipper Ryan Cresswell. New signings Johnny Mullins and Luke Ashworth are both missing along with a host of injury victims. On the treatment table and also missing out are Dale Tonge, Tom Pope, Ryan Taylor and Nick Fenton, as Moore bids to strengthen his side before the weekend. Dean Holden, signed yesterday from Shrewsbury on an emergency loan, will provide much needed experience at right back.

Much will rest on the shoulders of last year's top scorer Adam Le Fondre, and it's hoped Nicky Law can play a more pivotal role in proceedings over the months to come.

Tom Elliott is Le Fondre's likely partner on Saturday, and the Leeds rookie will be looking to turn his pace and strength into goals to help the team's cause. Tom Newey should add some quality to dead ball situations and will be a steady recruit down the left side of defence.

We expect the side to line up something like this...

Warrington, Holden, Geohaghon, Cresswell (c), Newey, Law, Bradley, Harrison, Ellison, Le Fondre, Elliott.

Get the vocals warmed up and lets get the season off to a winning start. Up the Millers.
