Have patience, we're trying! Sharps

Sharps got the captains job back in the summer after taking over the role from Pablo Mills, speaking to the 'Tiser today Ian talks about the last few months in the role.

"There's a few more young lads in the team now so there's a few more telling-offs involved, but you have to be careful how many you give because it can go the other way as well. Sometimes a hand on the shoulder is better than a rant and a rave." he said.

"I was club captain last year and had more responsibility during the week. On matchday I've always tried to help other lads out, no matter how badly I'm playing. Part of being captain is to point the finger and tell people they're not doing their job. They can obviously turn round and say you're not having a good game either, but-touch wood-I've been happy with my form so far this year." he added.

Ian went on to look at the draw against Burton after letting slip a two goal lead; "We defend as a team and conceded two goals and I'm partly responsible for that, We had four chances to clear the ball before their second goal and if you don't clear it properly you will concede in the end, no matter what standard you play at.

"Burton were a decent side. They passed it around nicely but if we want to be doing anything, we need to be winning those games. It was a draw that felt like a defeat but we weren't beaten and took a point. We need to put in a performance at Bradford now.

"It's a hard game. We got smashed there last year and probably got the Nicky Law move from it. I've not seen them play this year but I presume they're a good team."

Sharps then commented on the chorus of boo's from a section of the Don Valley crowd on Saturday; "If they boo, they boo, they pay their money but it's disappointing from our point of view and I can assure the supporters we were more disappointed than anyone else on Saturday. The dressing room was very quiet afterwards.

"It's been a bit of a new team in the last few games and we are still trying to find each other. It's not as if we're not trying. I came off very tired—we'd played four or five games in two weeks, although that's no excuse. Some people keep saying we're having a bad season but if we're still third at the end, we'll happily take that."
