Speaking to Radio Sheffield after the news broke, Paul McLaren said, "I feel dissapointed really, I though Mick wasa good man, a good bloke and a good manager and I enjoyed playing under him like all the lads did."

"He had the respect of everyone there and I know all the lads liked him, he was a very approachable manager and always had his door open if you needed to speak to him, I'm dissapointed to be honest."

"I found out when my mate rang me up when it came on SkySports, i turned on skysports and it was on the breaking news and I saw it there, I could'nt believe it to be honest."

Asked if he felt partly responsible being a player, "Yes you do, I spoke to John Mullin when i found out, we both said we felt partly responsible. The way we have been playing has'nt been too bad apart from a couple of games."

"I think Mick was so frustrated today, he was annoyed after the game, we're capable of beating the teams we're losing to."

"I had'nt seen it coming, I know we've been on a terrible run but I really had'nt seen it coming. The board and the Chairman are watching the games, and we're not playing that bad, I know wew're losing and it sounds like a broken record really saying we're not that bad blah blah blah, but I really didnt see it coming I really didnt."

Looking forward to Harford successor, "It will be a tough job, I don't know what they'll do wether appoint from withen or get someone else in, I really dont know, I have'nt heard anything. I'm guessing we'll have a meeting on Monday morning when we go in. I don't know what will happen from here."

Asked what kind of manager is needed, Macca said, "Someone like Mick really, as I say he was a good manager to work for, Probably somebody to come and give us a kick up the backside and say that we have the players in the dressing room that are capable of being up at the top of the league opposed to being at the bottom and losing all these games on the trot."

"We have time on our side, its not even Christmas yet, time is definately on our side."

"I'm sure the board will take everything into consideration, I dont know the in's and out's of it yet, we'll find out Monday but I'm sure they'll do the right thing for the club.
