Good news for Pope as Millers battle injury crisis

Last updated : 02 September 2009 By Deano
Pope, who limped off at Macclesfield last Saturday was believed to have fractured a bone in his ankle but after studying X-rays, the Millers are pleased with the result that an old injury has flared up.

No break has occured and the strikers lay off is thought to be only around two to three weeks, rather than the six to eight as first feared.

But boss Mark Robins was dealt further blows last night in the 2-1 loss against Huddersfield in the JP Trophy.

Despite the return of Drewe Broughton from the bench, Pablo Mills was missing with a groin strain, Paul Warne pulled his calf during the warm up and Micky Cummins lasted only 25 minutes as he popped his shoulder.

All are a doubt for the weekend game with Chesterfield, which kicks off at 2pm due to England's International with Slovenia at Wembley late afternoon.
