Gaffer laughs off moneybags tag

The Millers are one game away from securing back-to-back promotions as only Leyton Orient stand in the way of them and Championship football next season.

Some dissenters from outside the camp have suggested chairman Tony Stewart has thrown endless cash at the club, something Evans refutes.

"It's not about money here, there have been some giants in League One and we are paying a fraction of what they have paid," Evans said.

"But people see a stadium and see the chairman put money into the infrastructure and that's why they think we're spending big money.

"In that dressing room we have bought one player - Lee Frecklington. The rest have been on free transfers and the wages nowhere near as high as some suggest, like some other clubs who had the ability to go and sign them."

Evans insists instead that success has been built on team spirit and is pleased his side can ridicule those who thought they would struggle following their promotion from League Two.

"It's a huge achievement to get to Wembley," he added.

"We were written off at the start of the season by a lot of people in this league, we just had an inner belief and if people look at the team that started against Preston in the semi-final second leg, the bulk of them were here last season.

"We are pleased that we have been good enough to take it to the play-off final."
