Evans still confident of Premier club friendly

Speaking in his regular Gaffer on a Sunday column today to the clubs website, Steve Evans confirmed he is still in talks with three potential signings but that prospective deals are taking longer to tie up due to players holidays.

Evans also hinted that one or two more Millers players could be leaving the club after the recent departures of Troy Brown and Michael Raynes.

Recent rumours of a friendly against Everton had been scourned but the manager was still confident of adding high profile opposition to his pre-season calendar.

He explained: "Unlike the word on the street I am still confident that a full strength Premiership team will be at the New York Stadium in pre-season. I spoke to the manager of that team yesterday and he was finalising a few details in their own schedule, but as of my chat with him we are still part of what they would like to do, we will know for certain this week.

"We have some fantastic matches, Barnsley, Doncaster Rovers and Sheffield United. However, a full strength Premiership team at the New York Stadium would see the place full and a fitting way to start the tenure in our new magnificent home."
