Evans looks to Vale clash

The Millers are yet to win on the road this season, and speaking to the 'Tiser boss Steve Evans is expecting another tough game at Vale Park.

New loanee Craig Morgan played 45 minutes in the midweek reserve game at Gateshead and goes straight into the travelling squad for Vale.

“Craig Morgan played for 45 minutes in the reserves and was nothing short of outstanding. Nicky Hunt also played for 65 minutes, as did Dale Tonge, and they came through fine so they could be in the squad for Saturday."

“It’s good to have them back. We want those options because we might need to move one or two out to bring one or two in while the loan window is open. We just need to balance things out."

“Morgan was a major player for Peterborough when they were promoted. I’m pleased we’ve got him because some good clubs were after his signature. After a couple of days of talks he decided to come here and we’re delighted with that. He’s a player who I have watched often during the last few years and he is a top class performer."

''The lad is comfortable in central defence and at left back, something I have been looking at for several weeks. At Peterborough he was simply outstanding and a reason why Darren Ferguson got Preston North End to pay £400,000 for him. 'He is very comfortable on the ball and is a real competitor. Our squad is taking shape very nicely and competition for places is getting to a level where we need it to be.''

“If we can go and get a result at Port Vale it will be great news for us, That means we’ll be averaging two points per game and if we can keep that up then we’ll be champions."

“Vale are having a tough time off the pitch and it mystifies me that clubs that are in financial trouble can still go out and spend thousands of pounds. But Micky Adams has put a good, solid side together and we know it will be difficult. They will see us as a scalp to be taken, which is how we are being viewed by clubs now. You only have to look at the way Northampton celebrated after they beat us the other week."

“We had that problem at Crawley, when everyone wanted to beat us, and now it’s the same at Rotherham. I’ve just got to deal with that.”
