Ellison fights for fitness

Last updated : 01 December 2009 By Duke

Having initially limped out of the game at Port Vale, and aggrevating his foot injury in training, Ellison had an an X-ray on Friday, and missed the F.A. Cup match against Luton.

Speaking to The Star he said: "I took a whack against Port Vale and my foot swelled up and bruised pretty badly, It is quite painful but I got on with it because the team are doing well and I didn't want to lose my place. We trained Thursday and I did a bit of crossing on my foot but I woke up Friday morning and it had swelled up and gone black.

"I went for an X-ray on Friday and I am just waiting for the results to come back from the physio but I should be alright for Tuesday. It's horrible watching from the sidelines. I'm not a good watcher and I want to be out there playing and helping the lads."

The 2-2 draw with Luton means a replay on Tuesday 8th December at Kenilworth Road. A trip to Southampton awaits the winner in the next round. Ellison knows the replay will be a tough game to win saying: "We have made it hard for ourselves but Luton are a good team and they made it difficult for us.

"You look at Luton's squad list and they have still got some quality players there. They would not have gone down last year had they not been given the 30-point penalty.

"We are still in the draw and we will go back to their place and see what happens."
