"We've been back training for around ten days now and I'm beginning to feel a bit more like a footballer! I felt a bit rusty in the first few sessions we did with the ball but my fitness has improved and now I'm just excited about the start of the season."
He feels the squad is fitter than ever:
"The squad is looking really strong and fit. In fact, a couple of the older lads and I were talking and some of us have said that this is the fittest squad we've ever been a part of. The standards throughout the squad are really high and we're all really optimistic about the new season. All the new lads have settled in well - Popey is amusing us all!
With Walsall being the first friendly of the season at Don Valley this coming Saturday he went on to say:
"As I said we're all looking forward to the start of the season and even the friendlies. Walsall is the first one and it will be good to get some game time under my belt. Hopefully I'll remember how to pass, jump and shoot!"
