Pettigrew who joined the Millers on loan to the end of the season from Chelsea on Wednesday spoke to day to local radio station RotherFM.

"I'm enjoying it so far, I'm still getting to know the lads but its promising and I'm happy to be here! Confidence is high and the lads are buzzing because they're doing so well in the league, hopefully it will continue and the confidence will grow and we'll get promotion."

The 21 year old defender is looking for some first team experience, but also understands if he starts on the bench to begin with; "Like any player, I want to play but if that means that I've got to wait and take my turn then by it, but I'm willing to work and earn my position in the side. Wether my chance comes in 2 days or 3-4 weeks I'm happy, the main part is to be part of a good squad that is promising to go places and if I can get some games along the way then I'm happy." he said.

"At Chelsea I've played with and against some great talent and it's good experience to be down there playing against top opposition and with team mates, that experience has been good. I hope I can bring that experience here and build on it."

"I'd like to think that I'm quite quick, strong and dominant in the air, decent on the deck. Obviously I'm going to say I'm good at everything you know, no player likes to pick out his faults!" he joked."

"I like to think I'm a good organiser on the pitch as well, I don't want to big myself up too much, I think I'll let my football do the talking." he added.

Asked if he would be intrested in a longer move away from Chelsea, "Most definately, the whole progression of going out on loan obviously with the prospect of signing a longer deal, I've signed until the end of the season and at the moment I'm happy to be here and long may that continue and if that means that I extend my loan into a permanant move then so be it."

"The main priority for me now is to train well, hopefully get in the side and secure a position in the side and continue to progress with the team and hopefully get promotion!"
