Coleman wanting to bring back the good times.

On the eve of the season, Denis Coleman gives his thoughts to the 'Tiser.

THE board and I are really looking forward to the new season.
In fact it's the most I've looked forward to a season starting for many years.
It takes me back to when I was a kid when I'd first come from Ireland to Rotherham and my granddad used to try to get me the first season ticket 001. He actually managed it one year. I wished he'd have lived to see me become chairman.

I'm very pleased with the work Mark Robins, John Breckin, the backroom staff and entire club staff have put in during the summer. As a fan, you don't appreciate what goes on during the close season. It's actually the busiest time of the year for most people at the club.

We're very pleased how the fans have responded with the season ticket sales and a big thank-you to you all for that. Let's hope we can award you with a swift return to League One and hopefully the first phase of our road back to the Championship and all those big local derbies again.

Some of you will already have had a small taste of local derbies in the pre-season friendlies against Barnsley and Sheffield United but there's a big one coming up next week against the Owls in the Carling Cup. It will be great to see Millmoor really buzzing for that one.

Here's hoping for a successful season. Let's have your full support for the lads.
UP THE MILLERS!
