Coakley hoping to emulate Derby success

The new ground will open up fresh earning potential for Rotherham United and the chance to follow the off-the-field successes of another club not so far away.

Coakley spoke of his excitement at the commercial revenue streams the club will benefit from in todays Tiser, having faced similar experiences at his former employers: "Pride Park is near to East Midlands Airport, the M1 and the A52. Because of that blue chip national businesses used Pride Park as a central venue for conference and banqueting, even though they'd no affiliation with Derby whatsoever.

"Then they started finding out what corporate facilities were like on a matchday and started using it on a matchday. All of sudden you start building the sort of relationships up with blue chip businesses that having a seven-day-a-week conference and banqueting centre allows you to do. "If we can mirror that success here then it will stand us in good stead."
