Clubs ambition was key - Taylor

The Millers signed Jamie Clarke this week from Blackburn and with further talks to bring in a striker before the transfer deadline, Taylor said: "It's good that new players, and importantly, good players are coming in."

The midfielder, talking to the Advertiser, admits the initial talks held over his move to the Millers were what attracted him to sign a two and a half year deal.

He continued: "It's good for competition and keeps everyone on their toes - When I first spoke to Rotherham they sounded ambitious and that's what sold the club to me. They've got a bit of money behind them and hopefully the financial troubles are in the past and we can get up and running and kick on.

"I've moved here to progress my career and the aim has to be to get as many points as we can this season and then get up next year.

"There have been a few results lately we thought we should have turned in our favour but we bounced back last week. I've settled in really well and it was nice to get that win (against Macclesfield last weekend).

"I'm confident in the players here. I came from a young side at Stockport. I was one of the more experienced and I am only 21 - here we have more seasoned pros and sometimes you need wise heads and experience in there."
